The children’s author Tjibbe Veldkamp (1962) specially wrote a short story in a matchbox for MatchBoox. ‘De Fabriek’, Dutch text with supporting illustrations by Martine Brand.
In 1992 Tjibbe Veldkamp published his first book ‘Een ober van niks’. From 1993 to 2000 Veldkamp worked for Disney Magazine, where he wrote for the Donald Duck and Disneyland. Veldkamp wrote the ‘Kinderboekenweekgeschenk’ in 2011.
Martine Brand attended the Fashion institute for Fashion Design and the Art Academy for painting in Amsterdam. She worked for various publishers of children’s books including Kluitman, Harper Collins, Casterman and Penguin Books. In 2010 she started a partnership with Michel Haddi Studio Ltd, to create a series of illustrated magazines named Collections by Martine Brand with labels such as Chanel, Dior, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Alexander McQueen, Armani, Versace, YSL, Dolce and Gabbana and many more. The bookazine is available during Fashionweeks and distributed worldwide by Comaq Conde Nast Publications and The International Magazine Company. These magazines are located in the best stores around the world including the Armani store, YSL, Hermes Boutique, Harrods, Selfridges, Corso Como 10, Angora press, Le bon Marche, Art Museums, Escada, WHS Smith and many more. For various labels and magazines Brand has drawn portrets by Karl Lagerfeld, Anna Wintour, Donnatella Versace, Giorgio Armani, Rei Kawakubo, Vivienne Westwood and Madonna.
